We cordially invite you to the next concert event organized by the Association of Friends of the MDC,  "Music meets Science".

when: Tuesday 12 December 2023, 5 pm

where: Campus Buch, MDC.C, Axon

Following the successful launch of this format in October, we are delighted to present an established pianist and a neuroscientist this time.

Natalia Ehwald, who was described as a "poet among the German pianists of her generation" (Tagesspiegel), will be opening the evening. She passed her concert exam with honours and received additional support from the renowned pianist Galina Ivanzova. She won national and international competitions at an early age. She has made radio recordings in collaboration with several radio stations. In her broad repertoire, she has a special love for Franz Schubert and Robert Schumann. On this evening, she will therefore perform one of the most beautiful Schumann pieces, the Kinderszenen op. 15, as well as a sonata by Franz Schubert in C minor, D.958.

The evening will be scientifically enriched by a lecture by PD Dr Susanne Wolf, guest group leader at the MDC, on the subject of "More than just nerve cells: the brain's immune system". The neuroscientist and her team are studying the interaction between the immune system and the central nervous system, and how a special class of immune cells in the brain, the microglial cells, influence the development and progression of neurological and psychiatric diseases.

Afterwards, the musician and the scientist will be happy to answer questions from the audience. The lecture will be in German. Questions and answers can be translated spontaneously on request.

We look forward to an interesting evening with you!

Admission is free, donations are welcome.
